Ahhh! I’m excited. Today marks Dealcetera’s 1 year anniversary.

We have all of you to thank, for where we stand today. Being able to provide you guys with the best deals and having the great opportunity to interact with such a wonderful bunch both on the blog and on the forum has been an absolute pleasure. Here’s to many more!

For our regulars you may recall a series of contests we held over a number of weeks; awarding 6 lucky readers. One particular reader however showed her love for Dealcetera in a very special way. Andrea, the winner of our very first contest, winning a $15 Shoppers Drug Mart gift card, excitedly featured Dealcetera and her prize via YouTube.

…And she inspired me.

It’s your turn! Show your YouTube love!

We want all of you to show your love for Dealcetera and shopping by creating your own YouTube video.

We’re not looking for pros, just fun and entertaining videos. Get creative! Poems, songs, art pieces. Share YOUR tips with US! Feature your hottest buys, maybe even a mini fashion show showcasing your shopping steals. Interviews. Reviews. Take us on a shopping field trip and amaze us with your grand (or not so grand ) total at the register after coupons. Those are just a few ideas but I’m sure you guys can think of plenty more.

We’ll be awarding one lucky person a $100 gift card of their choice! Plus 2 secondary prizes!

Contest Rules & Conditions:

GRAND PRIZE: $100 gift card of the winner’s choosing

Participants have 2 months to submit their video. Contest begins June 20th and will end August 31st*, 2009. After the two month period all video submissions will be narrowed down to the top ten (10) and announced on September 2nd*, 2009. All readers and members will then have a chance to vote for their favourite video between September 2nd and 9th, 2009.

Each participant must include a link to their video(s) in the comments below. Participants must also include a link back to this post in the “more info” section on YouTube. Participants may submit as many videos as they wish, however each person will only have one chance to make the top ten (10). Essentially, we’ll have 10 different nominations.

All entries must remain within the terms and guidelines of YouTube.com. Dealcetera reserves the right to refuse and/or disqualify any entries which we deem as inappropriate.

* On August 20th, contest deadline was extended from the 20th to the 31st, top ten announcement was extended from August 21st to September 2nd and voting period was extended from August 22nd and 29th to September 2nd and 9th, 2009.

Firstly, congrats.
And secondly, after waiting for the surprise it turn out to be a self promotional give away. So we have to work for it. Hey do I hear a ringing bell?? We humans are stupid. I gather this won’t make it to the posting. That’s ok. It’s just part of the politics of thing. To shield the negative comments so as to make the whole world look…bright and cheery. Like I said, we humans are stupid. And those with a modicum of authority are.. you know.

Looney: What contest have you seen where you didn’t have to get a little dirty? The contest at hand is anything but a chore. Again, we’re not looking for pros. It can be as easy and non-painful as turning on a cell and uploading.

Secondly, we’re only asking for a bit of love whether directly or indirectly. If you’re a fan of Dealcetera, great! If you’re not, that’s ok too. Approach this contest in a manner you feel comfortable with. I tossed around some ideas to get the wheels spinning for you guys - but as I said, be creative!

Ideas mentioned such as tips, field trips, interviews and reviews are completely unrelated to Dealcetera and can be as “bright and cheery” as you’d like them to be. Maybe you received bad service at a restaurant or maybe your online shopping experience hit a few bumps and you want to tell us.

We’re a shopping and deals site asking all of you to share your love for shopping with us. Good and bad. Be original. Be honest. That’s all.

Andrea: lol! You were our inspiration. Unfortunately, the contest begins as of today and continues onward. We look forward to more videos from you however.

I checked your blog today, thanks for the extension. We were throwing around ideas but didn’t get around to actually putting a YouTube video together. Susan, from what I understand now since MindsEye has extended the deadline it’s only “one entry per person”. I mentioned that it will be a family effort because I’ve been discussing uploading a video for about a month now! I think we finally figured out what we’ll be doing & hopefully come up with something by this weekend. Are u planning to upload a DC video too? The more the merrier

Kate, just to clarify, Susan’s got it right.

Outside of the deadline that was extended, the rules have never changed.

Participants could always enter as many times as they liked and in the chance that we received more than 10 entries from different participants, those that submitted more than once would have had a higher chance of making it to the top ten.

So as an example, if we had received 15 submissions from 12 different participants ONLY ten from those 12 would move on. Those who had submitted more than once may not have had the best first video, but their second video may have sealed their chances to move on to the voting period.

I hope that helps to clarify things. I’m excited to see your video.

It’s unfortunate to hear you can’t participate Susan but thanks for involving yourself where you can.

And wow Jennyfer! Thanks for getting the word out. I’ll be sure to record all of your entries.

Ditto, Ditto, Ditto! Had I been able to submit a video I couldn’t have said it better myself. I am a strong supporter of Dealcetera for the exact reasons you mentioned.
I as well, appreciate the clean appearance and the detailed posts, which I find very interesting & extremely helpful. I have been able to save a great deal of money due to this site as the informative posts do the work for me.
The blog pictures either taken or photoshopped by MindsEye are very well done and I too find myself looking for the Dealcetera name within them LOL.

Melinda, Ben and Zero all nicely done videos as well! It’s been fun watching them. Good Luck to all who have entered!

I’m a kinda little embarrassed and in regreta because.. apparently it was uploaded last night around 9pm after everyone’s bedtime but my i-net connection must have been having problems because i wasn’t able to connect, then it seemed to be uploading for hours past the deadline…

LOL! my computer skills are limited to to coupon businesses online.

So here it is after a regular day with the the family and last night’s trouble shooting… We had Fun!!..so it worth just 4 show! or being considered an entry??? ..but i understand .. rules & fair play… Enjoy!!
